Sender & Gauge

Silver Cloud (Before VIN SKG31 / CLC8) and S1 (Before VIN B639FD/ ALB29) models were fitted with the early type water temperature gauge, UD1357, and sender, UD1554. On these earlier models the temperature gauge (UD1357) with a bi metal spring and transmitter (UD1554) would sit in the Hot position. When you turn the ignition on, the needle would drop to Cold and then then rise to normal operating temperature.

Silver Cloud (from VIN SKG31 / CLC8) and S1 (from VIN B639FD/ ALB29) models were fitted with the later type water temperature gauge, UD3016, and sender, UD3012P. On these later models the temperature gauge needle sits at the bottom of the gauge when the ignition is switched off. When you turn the ignition on, the needle would then then rise to normal operating temperature.
