The 18th season of the cult TV show Wheeler Dealers is in full flow and in last night’s episode (S18 Ep5) Mike and Elvis buy a piece of the Champagne lifestyle on a budget: a Silver Spirit. Like most cars, featured on the show the Silver Spirit had seen better days. To say a fair bit of work was needed to restore this classic back to its former glory is an understatement. The interior had seen better days. The once silent engine sounded more like a tractor, the paint work had the look of a car needing some serious TLC and the notchy steering through a big spanner into the budget.
Out of the blue, one of our sales team (Bailey) took a call from the wheeler-dealer’s crew. They needed a few parts for the exhaust manifold and wanted to recondition the power steering rack for the spirit. Mike being Mike wanted a deal to make sure he could get the car back to its former glory under a strict budget.
The timing could not have been better. Having recently invested in equipment and training we were gearing up to expand our reconditioning services and launch our rack and pump program. Brad (lead tech) was happy to explain the process of stripping down and rebuilding the Spirit steering rack. Mike wanted to be involved in every aspect of the rebuild. 1st part of the process was to address the notchy steering as well as making sure we could salvage the core. Next up Mike was tasked with cleaning the body whilst Brad prepped the recon kit.
